The Mpala Conservancy is a 48,000 acre property encompassing Mpala Research Centre and Mpala Ranch in Laikipia, Kenya. A wildlife-friendly working ranch, the Conservancy is home to more than 75 mammal species and 280 native bird species, some of which are endangered. The scientists at Mpala Research Centre conduct research in and around the conservancy, studying everything from the endangered Grevy's zebras to cattle-wildlife interactions.

Director's message: My promise to everyone is that I will work hard to ensure that Mpala continues on its trajectory towards becoming a world class research centre. At the same time, I want Mpala to have relevance to Kenya, and the region. That means raising its profile, providing more opportunities for Kenyan nationals, and focusing on issues that we all feel are important.
