What to Bring to Mpala

We recommend that you bring:

  • Warm weather clothing for the daytime (shorts, tshirts)
  • Trousers and a sweater for the chilly evenings
  • Raincoat or poncho for the rainy seasons
  • Powerful flashlight with plenty of batteries, or preferably, a rechargeable flashlight
  • Band-Aids
  • Neosporin, Lomotil, Pepto-Bismol, Aspirin or equivalent
  • Prescription medication that you may need
  • Toiletries you will need, including toothpaste, shampoo, etc.
  • Insect repellant
  • Sunscreen
  • Hat for sun protection
  • Lip balm
  • Sunglasses
  • Water bottle
  • Penknife
  • Daypack
  • Binoculars
  • Cameras and film
  • Spare spectacles, if you wear them
  • Hiking boots
  • Sturdy sandals
  • Pleasure reading and/or biology books to read and donate to Mpala’s library
  • VHS Videos to watch in the evenings and donate to Mpala’s video collection

Nanyuki is a relatively big town, and much is available there, from toiletries to batteries.

  • Laundry service
