Mpala Research Centre is able to keep its fees low because costs
are subsidized by Mpala Wildlife Foundation by approximately 33%.
Below is a structure of fees;please pay careful attention to the footnotes to help determine in which category you belong.
These rates apply as from 1 March 2008.
Incorporated in these fees is a $3 per day charge that goes towards running the ranch and conservancy, and a $0.25 nightly conservation fee (for outreach to neighboring ranches or LWF)

Campsite: $40/night + a $3.25/person/day conservancy fee.
Notes:
- Includes lodging, meals, bedding, towels, laundry service,
electricity, hot water, access to lab and ecosystem.
- Visiting researchers are persons who do research at Mpala
and are supported by funds neither granted nor administered
by Mpala, or by one of its member institutions.
- All researchers, assistants, students and visitors staying
less than 3 months are required to hire a local guide as a prerequisite
to doing research an Mpala, or touring the Centre's property.
Please note Guide services are charged at daily rate only -
not hourly use.
- Fees for long term researchers (>90 days) are all-inclusive
with no reduction for vacating on temporary basis.
- Jenga House:
$1,650 monthly (Includes Chef & Cleaner but does not include food, cooking gas, etc.) Note that Jenga House is for Senior Researchers and families or 2 full-time researchers sharing.

- Field Guides and Research Assistants will be charged their monthly salary plus a $2 per day worked and an additional $1 per day if your assistant has his family living with him in the village. Monthly Guide/Research Assistant salary ranges between $100 and $300

Mpala Research Centre, in which the driver agrees to cover any
costs not covered by comprehensive insurance policy.
- Puncture Repair
- $4.84 per puncture. Repaired during generator hours (between 7.00am and 10.00am) - Monday to
Saturday only
- Fuel
- Petrol at $1.26 per litre. Please note that fuel price
is subject to change on delivery.
- Diesel at $1.10 per litre. Refer to fuel charges,
updated regularly
- Sharing a researcher's hut

- Storage rates:
- $0.19 trunk per day = $5.45 trunk per month
- $0.36 pallet per day = $10.89 pallet per month

(Please note that although we will take all security measures for
your possessions Mpala Research Centre can not be liable for any loss
or damage - storage is at own risk.)
- House Holding

- Payment of fees is the sole responsibility of the researcher
/ host - unpaid fees at the end of guest or family visits will be
billed to the host.
Arrangements for paying all fees must be made prior to departure.
Please make the necessary arrangements with your university, institution,
or other source of funding for the advance of funds to meet this requirement.
Pro forma invoices can be issued on request to facilitate payment of a deposit.
Bills not paid within 30 days from the end of every calendar quarter will result in a charge of
5% per month on the running balance.
Users of Mpala equipment and property are responsible for
repairs of damages caused by misuse or negligence, and will be charged
accordingly.
